I think Umair is underestimating how racist America is, white Americans will vote against their interests to preserve white supremacy every time. Republicans have the advantage of not having to have concrete policies/accountability, as long as they broadcast their hatred of immigrants, Muslims, the LGBTQ, etc. they will always have significant support.
